Explorations in Felt
@ Hunterdon Art Museum, Hunterdon, NJ, USA
(January-August, 2020)
The exhibition had unique origins. The Fiber Art Network and Fiber Art Now magazine approached the Hunterdon Art Museum about hosting an exhibition as a companion to their print exhibition Felt: Fiber Transformed.
“We wanted to feature art and non-traditional wearables that best represented the incredible depth and breadth of work being created using felt with an emphasis on exhibiting high-quality works of contemporary art, craft and design,” said Marjorie Frankel Nathanson, executive director of the Hunterdon Art Museum.
RESURGENCE IN FELT ART
In recent years, felting has undergone a revival of sorts as contemporary artists rediscover the material’s versatility, durability and malleability.
?WHAT MATTERS!
2nd Edition
With digital technologies dominating more and more today's visual arts, the three artists of ?WHAT MATTERS! reclaim and question in their practice the use of common and accessible material found in every day: wool, glass, plaster.
Within a compulsive action of making, they push back traditional use, the limits of form, and they play with the medium's constraints while exploring its qualities.

SHRINE-Canadian Contemporary Felt exhibition 2018
@ Biennial Canadian Felt Symposium in Nova Scotia / Craft Council of BC
SHRINE is a group exhibition created by felt :: feutre Canada members from across Canada. The work asks participating artists to create a portable shrine that pays homage to a belief which is intrinsic to them. This belief can be based in religion, but can also be secular; a testament to an object/theme selected by the feltmaker.
